Garage protection in conditions of radio interference

Our team was assigned the task of organizing the security of the garage by involving the already operating Ajax security system. The central Ajax was located in an apartment 120 meters from the garage. Which according to the Ajax specification was quite acceptable for connecting sensors. But there were two obstacles in the way of the radio signal - the corner of a neighboring house and a tree, which in the summer kindly lowered the level of the Jeweler signal. As a result, the DoorProtect sensor mounted on the garage door periodically lost communication with the hub.
In such cases, ReX repeaters are used , which are installed on the path of the radio signal, thereby increasing its level. But in this case, there was no technical possibility to use the ReX signal extender . After all, despite the presence of an emergency battery, it requires constant power and a dry room for installation.
To obtain a stable Jeweler signal, it was necessary to move the DoorProtect sensor only a couple of meters. But take it out of the garage, because the metal structure shielded the signal. This made it possible to make the contact of the external sensor, which was constructively foreseen by the Ajax company for such a case.

The solution to the problem was placing DoorProtect in an airtight box outside the garage and using an external, contact sensor, which in turn was mounted on the gate. And the DoorProtect sensor acted as a receiver and transmitter of the Jeweler signal.
In this way, we achieved a stable signal in two divisions and saved the client from periodic notifications about the loss of connection between the sensor and the hub and additional costs for the purchase of a separate Ajax StarterKit .
PS: Ajax does not recommend using DoorProtect outdoors. But as practice shows, with proper sealing, the sensor calmly tolerates rain and an operating temperature of about -10 degrees.
